Reinvented marine materials for sustainable design. The beauty of the shell, the meaning of a responsible approach, the strength of a high-performance material.
Material emerges from the Ocean.
Our material
Ostrea is a high-performance, low-carbon French material designed for flooring, countertops, and furniture.
Low carbon
In France, 250,000 tonnes of shells are buried each year. These marine by-products become a premium mineral material, designed as an alternative to natural stone. Designed and manufactured in France, Ostrea records 7.5 kg of CO₂ emissions per m², five times less than traditional ceramics (according to the 2026 life cycle assessment). A low-carbon material, resin-free and requiring no firing, designed for flooring, countertops, and furniture.
Made in France
Ostrea material is 100% designed, sourced, and manufactured in France, at the production facility located near Rennes. The recycled shells come from our French coastlines, mainly from the Bassin d’Arcachon, Bretagne, and Normandie. This organization enables the material to be developed through short supply chains, fully aligned with the principles of the circular economy.
High performance
The mineral composition of Ostrea material offers technical properties comparable to those of natural stone. To the touch, it has a cool mineral feel reminiscent of marble. This high-performance, resin-free material offers excellent resistance to intensive use such as impact, water, UV exposure, frost, fire, and stains, and integrates naturally into demanding public environments such as restaurants, offices, and bathrooms.
